50-Hour Fatigue Limit

At Sidekicker, your health, safety and wellbeing are important to us. To help make sure everyone has enough time to rest between shifts, we're introducing a new 50-hour fatigue limit.

This limit is designed to help manage fatigue and support a safer working environment for all Sidekicks.

What is the 50-hour fatigue limit?

Sidekicks will be limited to a maximum of 50 hours of work within any rolling 7-day period. This limit applies to all work completed through Sidekicker, across:

  • All customers and clients

  • All shifts and jobs

  • Both Australia and New Zealand

Importantly, this is a rolling 7-day limit, not a Monday-to-Sunday week. This means the system looks at your total working hours within any 7-day period, including shifts worked both before and after the scheduled shift.

How are my hours calculated?

All hours count towards your 50-hour limit, including breaks.

For example, if you're scheduled to work:

  • Monday: 10 hours

  • Tuesday: 10 hours

  • Wednesday: 10 hours

  • Thursday: 10 hours

  • Friday: 10 hours

You will have reached 50 hours within that rolling 7-day period.

What happens if I reach the 50-hour limit?

If accepting or working another shift would take you over the 50-hour limit within a rolling 7-day period:

  • The shift will be blocked and will no longer appear in your available shifts

  • You won't be able to apply for that shift

  • Customers won't be able to hire you for that shift

  • The restriction will apply automatically through the Sidekicker platform

Once your working hours fall below the limit as older shifts move outside your rolling 7-day period, you'll be able to access eligible shifts again.

Will I be notified if a shift is blocked?

You won't receive a proactive notification explaining that a shift has been blocked due to the fatigue limit.

If a shift disappears from your feed, or you see that the shift is no longer available, it could be the shift is either filled with other Sidekicks, cancelled by the customer, or you've reached the 50-hour fatigue limit.

If a shift disappears from your feed or you receive a message saying that a shift is no longer available, it may be because you've reached the 50-hour fatigue limit.

Does this affect shifts I've already been hired for?

No. The new fatigue limit prevents you from accessing or being hired for additional shifts that would take you over the limit. Shifts you've already been hired for are not affected by this limit.

Why are we introducing this limit?

Working excessive hours can increase fatigue and create health and safety risks.

By introducing this limit, we're taking an additional step to encourage safer working hours and help ensure Sidekicks have adequate opportunities to rest.
