When will I find out if I've been hired for a shift?

What happens and how long it can take once you have applied for a Sidekicker shift.

How long it takes to hear back about being selected for a job can vary from a few minutes to a couple of days, depending on the nature of the job. Although businesses are advised to make their selection as soon as possible, it may take longer to find the ideal candidate for the job, particularly if specialised experience or a long-term commitment is needed.

You will get a notification if you have been hired for a shift, and it will move to your 'My shifts' section.

Clients can hire applicants at any time up until the job begins. If you no longer wish to wait, you can withdraw your pending application at any time without penalty to avoid being hired on short notice.

You can now add the shift on your phone calendar to keep track of your schedule!

Simply click the 'Add to calendar' button next to the upcoming shift on 'My shifts'.

Resolving Shift Visibility Issues

Confirmed shift not appearing in the app

If you have already been confirmed/booked for a shift by Sidekicker, but the confirmed shift does not appear in your app, you can still attend the shift if you have been advised that you are booked. After completing the shift, contact Sidekicker so we can ensure your hours are recorded correctly and, if required, create a timesheet using your start time, finish time, and any break taken.

Important: This only applies to confirmed bookings. If you have not been confirmed for the shift, do not attend unless Sidekicker has specifically instructed you to do so.

Job notification or application no longer visible

If you received a notification about a job but it is no longer visible in your app, or a job you applied for disappears, this usually means the role has already been filled or is no longer available. A job notification is not a confirmed booking—you must apply and then be selected before attending a shift.

New opportunities will continue to appear in your feed as they become available, and you can apply for those if you're interested.

Additional Requirements

In some cases, additional steps such as completing a medical exam may be required before your onboarding is finalised. Ensure you follow any instructions provided to complete these requirements promptly. Once completed, your access to shifts will be updated accordingly. What if I can no longer work a shift I applied for?

If you have applied for a shift but your plans have changed or you don't think you can make it any more, it's crucial that you remove your application.

You can do this by clicking on the job in your dashboard's 'Applied' section and then clicking the 'Remove Application' button.

If the start time of the shift is approaching and you no longer feel comfortable waiting, you can remove your application to prevent being hired at the last minute. This ensures flexibility and avoids potential scheduling conflicts.

There is no penalty for withdrawing from shifts before being selected. However, once you are hired to work a shift, your reliability could be affected if you withdraw. For more information on how withdrawals impact your reliability, see this article here.

In some cases, shifts may be confirmed after their start time due to scheduling errors by the client. If this happens, your profile will not be negatively affected. To avoid being hired at the last minute, consider withdrawing pending applications when you are no longer available.
