Navigating the new Sidekicker app

Updated over a week ago

Welcome to the new Sidekicker app!

The new app is built on a platform that allows us for easier roll out of updates and new features that are designed to help you discover, apply, and secure shifts making your experience smoother and more efficient!

To help you get started, we've gathered the key tips and updates in this article, so you can quickly navigate and make the most of the app.

Navigation

The new navigation layout is designed to be simple and intuitive, helping you move through the app with ease. At the bottom of the screen, you'll find 3 primary sections: Feed, My Shifts, and Account.

  • Feed: Your new dashboard for finding and applying for open shifts.

  • My Shifts: Where you can see all your live shifts, active and upcoming.

  • Account: Here you can manage your settings, view earnings, and access help.

Feed

You'll find all available and applied shifts on your Feed, with some key updates to improve the way you navigate this area.

Shift sorting

We've invested in a smarter Feed, showing all open and applied shifts, now automatically ordered to show the shifts you have the best likelihood of getting hired right at the top.

This eliminates the need for manual sorting saving you time and helping you to easily find the shifts you are more likely to get hired in. You can still find workarounds in the new app with the filtering options for Category, Availability and Location (e.g. to view shifts for Friday, set the Availability filter to Friday).

Filter shifts on your feed

You can also filter shifts you see on your feed by using the new filter for 'Availability', 'Category' and 'Location'. This makes it quick to update your preferences at any time, and ensure you're only seeing shifts on your feed that match your current preferences.

Please note these filters will only impact what you see on your feed, not your shift notifications (see 'Account' for notification settings).

Shift application process

Due to the fast-moving marketplace, the ability to view passed shifts or to save shifts have been removed. We recommend always applying or passing shifts quickly, however, if you're unsure if you'd wish to apply for a shift at a later stage simply don't pass it so the shift stays visible on your Feed.

You can now quickly pass a shift on your feed by swiping left.

Shift labels

We've introduced a new visual indicating newly posted shifts (the green dot) and new shift labels to help you better understand each listing on your feed:

  • Last minute job: A shift posted within 24-hours from start time.

  • Ongoing roster: A longer-term job opportunity.

  • Invite only: A shift posted to a select group of Sidekicks, including you.

Along with the new labels, you'll still continue to see the ⚑️- symbol resembling auto-hire shifts (you'll be automatically hired upon application).

Note that the πŸ”₯- symbol for hot jobs has been removed as the jobs you have the best chance at getting hired are automatically showing on the top of your Feed.

My shifts

In My shifts you'll find all the active shifts confirmed for you, organised by the start date. This makes it easy to track your work schedule and upcoming shifts.

Active shifts

Your active shifts include any shifts you're currently attending, or have already been worked but waiting for the timesheet approval. These are organised by the date and time. If you have multiple active shifts, you can scroll through them by clicking the arrow to right or swiping left.

You'll notice new labels, 'Submit timesheet' and 'Awaiting review':

  • Submit timesheet: You've worked the shift but are yet to submit your timesheet

  • Awaiting review: You've submitted your timesheet, and it's waiting for the hiring business' approval. At this stage, you can now also make adjustments to your submitted timesheet by selecting the shift, clicking the pen icon and clicking 'Update timesheet'.

Upcoming shifts

All upcoming shifts are displayed here, organised by start date. If a shift is starting today, you'll see a blue dot next to it for quick reference.

Account

On the Account section, you can access your notification settings, edit profile settings, and view completed shifts.

Notifications

Ensure your shift notification preferences are up-to-date by clicking into 'Notifications' on your Account.

We recommended enabling 'Push notifications' to ensure you're instantly informed when a new shift is posted on Sidekicker, and be amongst the first Sidekicks to apply, increasing your hire probability.

You can also filter your alerts by location and availability, which can be different to how you've filtered your Feed.

My earnings

In 'My earnings' you'll find all your completed shifts, including earnings from each shift and in total from all shifts (before GST). You may also see a label 'Client revision' on a shift, if a business has edited a timesheet you've submitted against the shift.

Get help

When you're in the need of help, trigger the chat bubble by clicking 'Get help'. This will connect you with the helpful resources and support, such as the Help Centre by clicking 'Help' on the chat bubble.

Access full profile

For full profile details and settings, you can access your profile on the Sidekicker web version by clicking the link next to your name and profile picture.
